OYAWA

Pronounced oi-ah-wah, are a three piece

indie / alternative band from Auckland, New Zealand.

The creative collaboration of Brett Garrity, Nikki Ngatai and Miles Gillett.

Though new to the live scene as a unit, Individually

their musical accomplishments are impressive.



The core of Miles career has been in Southern California

with various bands playing and touring with the likes of Pavement,

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flaming Lips, Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr.

to name a few. Miles has also recorded many albums

and singles while in the States mainly with San Diego band Fluf

and El Grupo Sexo



Brett Garrity, a Wellington Native has played and recorded

with NZ bands such as Short, Marineville,

and Return of the Wahlbergs thru the 90's and 2000's.



Oyawa is Nikki's first band effort. A gifted songwriter and vocalist.

Nikki has been playing for years as a solo and session artist.

Her love for this band is paramount.
