The My Superman music video is just one example of Meri Amber’s brand of quirky 21st century pop. Learn more about this rising Australian star like her favorite things with our exclusive interview!
Who are you?
My name is Meri Amber, I’m a geek pop singer-songwriter from Australia. My music is lasers, kazoos and ninja style world domination- you should check it out! I also like the colour yellow, Invader Zim, dark chocolate, calligraphy, Supergirl, novelty pens and stickers 🙂
How did you get into making music?
I started playing music extremely early, I think I was 4 years old when I embarked on joining guitar ensemble in primary school. Initially I wanted to be the girl band B*Witched, yes, on my own. I hadn’t worked out the logistics of it but it was the driving force getting me going.

What’s the inspiration behind the song and music video?
My Superman is essentially a song about being pulled out of feeling hopeless by a super hero partner. I brainstormed a few ideas for the video and thought that having the damsel in distress being cast as a cat-picture-oggling Tumblr-addict and Superman being cast as an IT support desk person would be gold. So I settled on that.
What should fans look out for?
My Superman is the first single from my premiere EP, the Super EP. It’s definitely worth looking up the full EP if you like the song. You can stream it from the beginning to the end at www.meriamber.com/music. The EP also comes with a comic book that I made. If you dig comics I’m putting up a new page every week here-www.meriamber.com/comic.
